The Department of Applied Computing and Artificial Intelligence is a hub of innovation, focusing on the transformative fields of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning/Deep Learning (AI/ML/DL); our two niche areas. Our department is dedicated to advancing the understanding and application of data-centric technologies. This includes two key field in Data Science: Data Management and Data Analytics.
In Data Management, we explore the efficient handling, storage, and retrieval of vast amounts of data, ensuring data integrity and accessibility. Our Data Analytics focus involves extracting meaningful insights from complex datasets, employing statistical methods and advanced computational techniques. In the realm of AI/ML/DL, our department is at the forefront of developing intelligent systems that can learn and adapt. Our research and curriculum cover a wide spectrum of AI technologies, from traditional machine learning algorithms to cutting-edge deep learning frameworks.
The Department of Applied Computing and Artificial Intelligence offers three cutting-edge programs designed to prepare students for the forefront of technological innovation. The Bachelor of Computer Science (Data Engineering) focuses on building and maintaining scalable data infrastructures and pipelines. The Bachelor of Computer Science (Bioinformatics) combines computer science and biology to analyze and interpret complex biological data. The Master in Data Science provides advanced training in data analytics, machine learning, and big data technologies, equipping graduates with the skills to lead data-driven initiatives across various industries. Each program integrates practical experience with theoretical knowledge, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities in their respective fields.

Programme Offered
SECBH Programme
The Bachelor of Computer Science (Bioinformatics) with Honours is offered on full-time basis and is based on a 2-semester per academic session. This is a mixed-mode.
SECPH Programme
The Bachelor of Computer Science (Data Engineering) with Honours is conducted in an industrial mode(2u2i) to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed ensuring graduates gain relevant industry experience in the field of study; thus bridging the gap between industry and graduate requirements.
MCSD Programme
In this programme, MSc (Data Science), you will gain a solid understanding of the methods used in data science.
