Evaluation

Industrial training evaluation is intended to measure the students’ performances, work quality, and assess their personality development during the Industrial training.

The following components shall be assessed:
i) Industrial Training Report;
ii) Log Book;
iii) Industrial Training Oral Presentation;
iv) Student Performance Evaluation by Organization Supervisor;
v) Student Performance Evaluation by Faculty Supervisor.

Student assessment is carried out through two course codes containing the following components and weights:

Requirement to Pass the Industrial Training

Student must pass the evaluation of both the SC*4114 and SC*4118 codes to pass the industrial training. The passing mark for the Industrial Training Report with SC*4114 code is 60% i.e. grade B- or above of the overall Industrial training score – with condition that the student:

  • must submit the technical training report (Industrial Training Report) within the predetermined date.
  • presents the training results to the faculty supervisor

Student who fails the SC*4114 code (Industrial Training Report), should repeat only the SC*4114 in the following semester and resubmit the Industrial training report within the predetermined date.

The passing mark for the Industrial Training for the code SC*4118 is 60% with the status of ATTEND PASS, with condition that the student:

  • must submit the log book that has been verified by the organization supervisor.
  • receives a total marks of at least 50% from the evaluation of both the organization supervisor and the faculty supervisor.

Meanwhile, the student who fail the SC*4118 course will receive a status of ATTEND FAIL and have to repeat both courses i.e. SC*4118 and SC*4114 in the following semester.

Industrial Training Written Report

The Industrial Training Written Report is to fulfill the learning objective of code SC*4114, i.e. to produce the technical report according to the appropriate format.
The industrial training written report must have a project title and must follow the UTM thesis format.
The contents of the report must follow the format specified by the faculty and must not exceed 50 pages (excluding the terms and appendix)
The report may be written in Bahasa Malaysia or English and should be submitted before/on the date as indicated by the Faculty.
The report should incorporate the following contents and shall be assessed as per the weight below :

The report must be bound using ring binder. The front page should be printed with orange coloured thick paper. The format for the report is as shown in Appendix 5.
The score for Industrial Training Report contributes to 60% of the overall marks for the SC*4114 course code.

Report attributes:
i) A4 size papers;
ii) Font style Times New Roman, size 12;
iii) 1 ½ spacing.

Industrial Training Oral Presentation

The Oral Presentation is evaluated by the Faculty Supervisor and the evaluation is in accordance to the following weight:

The score for the oral presentation contributes to 40% of the overall marks for the SC*4114 course code.

Log Book

The Log Book is evaluated by the Faculty Supervisor and the evaluation is in accordance to the following weight:

The mark for the Log Book contributes to 20% of the overall marks for the SC*3118 course code.

Student Performance Evaluation by Organization Supervisor

The Organization Supervisor is expected to assess the student performance baes on the two scopes as follows:
i) Work performance, which includes:
– Knowledge on assigned work
– Reliability in completing tasks in specified time frame
– Time taken in acquiring working skills
– Ability to work independently
– Quality of work done

ii) Personality, which includes:
– Socialisation and Communication
– Initiative and motivation on assigned work
– Work attitude
– Discipline
– Cooperation and teamwork

The assessment should be conducted using the Student Performance Evaluation Form by Organization Supervisor (BLI-2B) or by the online form in the ITS-UTM system.

Student Performance Evaluation by Faculty Supervisor

The assessment by Faculty Supervisor is conducted using the Student Performance Evaluation Form by Faculty Supervisor (BLI-3A).
