An expert in Software Engineering with a keen interest in improving

Professor Ts. Dr. Wan Mohd Nasir Wan Kadir, an expert in Software Engineering with a keen interest in improving the quality of large and complex software systems, including Software Quality Assurance, Software Architecture, Software Testing, and Software Verification, has been leading the Faculty of Computing, UTM Johor Bahru (FC) as the Dean since November 2022.

The Faculty of Computing comprises four key departments: Computer Science, Software Engineering, Applied Computing and Artificial Intelligence, and Emergent Computing. Additionally, FC is also a Premier Digital Tech Institution (PDTI), a joint initiative by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) to meet industry demand for quality digital talents.

Two of its distinguished programmes—the Bachelor of Computer and Network Security and the Bachelor of Software Engineering—are also delivered through a partnership with Qaiwan International University UTM’s franchised offerings.

The faculty is renowned for its cutting-edge research and has two Centres of Excellence: the Media and Game Innovation Centre of Excellence (Magicx) and the UTM Big Data Centre (UTM-BDC).

In terms of academic rankings, the Computer Science programme at FC consistently shines in the national Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject, making it a premier choice for aspiring students.

Over 95% of FC’s graduates find employment, making them highly sought-after by industry leaders. Additionally, the graduates of Software Engineering stand out in the MOHE’s 2022 Graduate Employability Report, earning top positions for premium employment opportunities.

The faculty has a history of producing accomplished alumni, such as Muhammad Arif Tukiman, a UTM alumni from 2016, who once earned a place in Forbes’s Asia Latest Top 30 Under 30 list.
