Head of mivielab

Founded in 2010, mivielab is a research lab at Faculty of Computing UTM subset to research group (RG) ViCubeLab (formerly known as Department of Computer Graphics and Multimedia). Ajune Wanis Ismail is a senior lecturer in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Johore Malaysia. She received her B.Sc., M.Sc. and Dr. Sc. degrees from UTM respectively. She studied in computer graphics and computer vision for her B.Sc degree and started a research on Augmented Reality which is currently her main research area. She has completed her M.Sc research mode degree in 3 semesters working on the vision-based tracking in Augmented Reality. She has joined the Human Interface Technology Laboratory New Zealand (HITLabNZ) at the University of Canterbury for her PhD study with supervision Prof Mark Billinghurst (the pioneer of ARToolkit inventor) and return to UTM with supervision Assoc Prof Dr Mohd Shahrizal Sunar (Director of MaGICX) to complete her PhD for 3 years. She is now acting as a head of mivielab and decides to keep continuing her interest in augmented reality and virtual environment in her current research interest. This year her VR project with MaGICX Classroom of the Future, has been successfully launched by Malaysia Ministry of Education. In line with MoHE’s intention to Redesigning Higher Education by introducing the concept of Classroom of the Future. This project is seen as a successful cross-discipline collaboration between Faculty of Chemical and Energy Engineering and Faculty of ComputingMaGICX plays an important role as a key driver for the Digital Media Industry and Gamification Technology.
