The recent advancement in digital computing research has brought about great improvements in the quality of lives and impacted the technological growth globally. A planetary movement in advanced manufacturing economies is seeking to renew and restructure the industrial and manufacturing core competencies with the use of the latest advances in information and communications technology. Such dimensions are feasible in the increasing integration of the Internet of Thing into the industrial value chain which has established the premise for the next industrial revolution called Industry 4.0. The required key technologies for Industry 4.0 transformation are artificial intelligence, internet of things, machine learning, cloud systems, cybersecurity, and adaptive robotics. IT security and management are all working together to provide comprehensive changes in the business processes of organizations.

The research activities of the postgraduate students are geared towards achieving excellence in research and development. Thurs, this year edition of Postgraduate Annual Research Seminars (PARS) aims at inspiring research development, technology transfer and it is a platform used by the Faculty of Computing to assist their graduate students in showcasing their research ideas and providing the platforms that would solve challenges facing the implementation of this digital transformation. Following successes recorded in the previous edition of PARS, this year edition is a class of its own, which will involve submission of student research papers. The theme for PARS 2018 is “Towards Excellence in Digital Computing Research” and it seeks to fill the challenge brought about by this rapid industrial revolution and digital transformation agenda.

Theme: Towards Excellence in Digital Computing Research

Paper Submission Guidelines:

• Prospective eligible authors for PARS 2018 should submit their manuscripts in IEEE template /MS-Word format to pars@fc.utm.my. The email subject must be “PARS 2018 SUBMISSION”. The file must be named as LastNameFirstName_Research groupName_Research group Code.
• For example; A candidate whose Last Name is Aliyu and First Name Abdelsalam submitting a paper for PARS 2018 in Information Service Systems and Innovation research group must send an email with the Subject “PARS 2018 SUBMISSION” and attach file named :AliyuAbdelsalam_Information Service Systems and Innovation_003.
• Please, all prospective authors should kindly comply with these guidelines and ensure the appropriate tracks for their papers are selected.
• In addition, when submitting your manuscript please include the following items:
  1. The plagiarism report of the authors manuscript (based on Turnitin, please join class with ID: 17379710, Then email to rohayanti@utm.my to request the class key)
  2. Plagiarism report should not exceed 20% similarity
  3. Title of email should be written as: “Request PARS Class Key”

Journal List:
All accepted papers will be published in PARS 2018 online proceedings. Selected papers will be published in one of the following journals

• International Journal of Innovative Computing (IJIC)
• International Journal of Software Engineering and Technology (IJSET)

Outstanding papers presented at the conference will be offered for publication in Scopus indexed journals subject to the compliance with journals guidelines, terms and conditions.

Compulsory Eligibility Criteria:

• PhD Students: Semester 4 and above who have not submitted their thesis for examination
• MPhil Students: Semester 3 and above who have not submitted their thesis for examination.
