PSM 1

Objectives

  • Identifying relevant information pertaining to project needs from a variety of resources.
  • Explaining and applying project development methodologies appropriate to the project.
  • Designing, planning, and proposing a project according to user requirements.

 

Subject Code

Course Code for PSM 1 is (SCx 3032 / SCSx 3032 / SECx 3032) where x is the department special code.

  • SCR/SCSR/SECR 3032): Computer Network & Security
  • SCJ/SCSJ/SECJ 3032): Software Engineering
  • SCB/SCSB/SECB 3032): Bioinformatics
  • SCV/SCSV/SECV 3032): Graphics and Multimedia Software
  • SCD/SCSD/SECD 3032): Information System

PSM 1 carries two (2) credits and is done once fulfills the requirements (prerequisites).

 

Prerequisites

  • Passed subject SCSD3104 Application Development.
  • Total credits > 80 credits

 

Execution Procedure

In the process of PSM 1 execution, there is a set of procedures that need to be followed by the students, the supervisors, and the examiners.

 

Supervision

A supervisor will supervise each student in the execution of their project throughout the time (two semesters) starting from proposing the topic until completion of the project.

Currently, each student will be assigned a supervisor by the committee. The same appointed supervisor will supervise the student’s project for both PSM 1 and PSM 2.

Meeting

  • Regular review from supervisors will ensure that students execute their project according to the faculty’s procedure and standards, as well as the project objectives and aims.
  • Students must arrange a minimum of six (6) formal meetings with their supervisors before receiving permission to submit and present their projects. However, students are strongly advised to arrange a weekly meeting with the supervisors to address issues related to project execution.
  • All meetings must be recorded in a logbook and the supervisor’s signature of approval of each meeting is required. The logbook form is available on the PSM website.

Briefing

One session of PSM briefing will be arranged before the new semester start. The date and time will be announced to all students by the coordinator of PSM, SPACE.
