JARVIS: Robotic Workshop & Competition (JARVIS: FESKO ’69) is an impactful technical program organized by Persatuan Mahasiswa Sains Komputer (PERSAKA). Held in conjunction with the 69th UTM Convocation Festival (FESKO ’69), the event focused on introducing secondary school students to the world of automation and programming. Led by Adam Syahmi bin Abdullah as the event director, the initiative transformed Dataran UTM into a hub of creativity, bridging the gap between classroom theory and real-world engineering.

The intensive program offered a hands-on journey through the lifecycle of a robot. From mastering the logic of coding to the physical assembly of robotic kits, participants were challenged to think critically and work collaboratively. By combining technical workshops with a high-energy competition, the event not only sparked an interest in STEM but also developed the students’ problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.

Students engaged in the ‘Build’ phase and the ‘Compete’ phase during the afternoon session.

JARVIS: FESKO ’69 brought together 38 students and 4 teachers from SMK Seri Perling, creating a vibrant atmosphere of learning. The program was divided into four key stages: CODE, BUILD, EXECUTE, and COMPETE. This structure allowed participants to move from learning basic instructions to seeing their creations come to life on the competition track.

One of the special highlights of the event was that it was held in collaboration with myRobot and FESKO ’69. As the official industry partner, myRobot sponsored the robotic kits used by the participants, ensuring students had access to high-quality technology. This collaboration, supported by the FESKO ’69 committee, added a professional touch to the workshop and underscored the importance of teamwork in delivering a successful and impactful programme.

The workshop was not without its challenges, as students navigated real-world hurdles such as complex wiring and coding bugs. However, under the guidance of UTM Computer Science facilitators, these young innovators learned that persistence is the key to success. The event successfully leveled the playing field, ensuring that even those with no prior experience could successfully build and program a robot by the end of the day. The program concluded with an exciting Mini Robotic Competition, where teams faced off to test the agility and precision of their builds. This final challenge showcased the incredible progress made by the students in just a few short hours, proving that the next generation is ready to embrace the future of technology.

17 January 2026 – The Persatuan Mahasiswa Sains Komputer (PERSAKA), Faculty of Computing, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) successfully organized the Create Code Connect (CCC’25) program at the N28 building. This initiative was specifically designed to bolster the academic performance of first-year students and foster a collaborative learning environment through peer-to-peer mentorship.

    A Peer-Led Academic Revolution

    tutor session

The core mission of CCC’25 was to provide targeted assistance for the Programming Technique 1 (C++) Subject. Recognizing that the transition to university-level coding can be daunting, the program utilized a peer-to-peer mentorship model. By pairing 41 first-year students with senior “mentors”, the initiative transformed the traditional classroom experience into an interactive workshop.

During the Intensive Mentoring Sessions, mentors shared not only technical knowledge but also “survival tips” for the upcoming final examinations. These sessions focused on debugging logic, mastering syntax, and understanding the core principles of C++ that are essential for future success in the computing field.

Beyond the Screen: Strengthening Social Bonds

While the morning was dedicated to rigorous coding, the afternoon transitioned into the “Explore Race” and interactive Quizizz sessions. These activities were designed to break the ice and build a sense of community within the faculty.

The “Explore Race” encouraged students to solve logic puzzles and complete team-based challenges across the N28A complex. According to Program Director Nur Faatihah Binti Mohamad Fuad, the goal was to ensure that students didn’t just leave with better coding skills, but also with a support network of friends and seniors they could rely on throughout their academic journey.

    Aligning with Global Excellence

CCC’25 was carefully curated to align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). By fostering an inclusive environment where students of all backgrounds could seek help, PERSAKA demonstrated its commitment to UTM’s vision of producing well-rounded, socially conscious graduates.

The program was managed by a dedicated team of 21 crew members who oversaw everything from logistics to multimedia content. Despite minor challenges in registration and scheduling, the committee’s swift problem-solving ensured a seamless experience for all 41 attendees.
