Ancient Malacca VR is our newest immersive experience, allowing users to explore the virtual walkthrough of Malacca Sultanate Palace, when it used to be in 14thcentury, in Sultan Mansur Shah dynasty (1456 – 1477). The last Sultan to stay at the palace is Sultan Mahmud Shah before it was destroyed on fire by Portuguese in 1511.

Malacca Sultanate Palace is an exquisite piece of Malay architecture and is a replica of the original 15th century palace of Malacca’s extinct Sultanate. The palace is built based on the sketches found in the ancient Sejarah Melayu. According to Perbadanan Muzium Melaka (PERZIM) this replica matches 70% of the original palace. In fact, nobody knows every single detail of the palace.

User will have to explore the exterior part of the building in level 1 where user can see the uniqueness of the architecture. This palace was said to have no single nail used in the building. The architecture of the palace consists of 7 minarets where the central minaret is the entrance of the palace. The whole palace was built from wood. The exterior part of the palace will have gardens, trees, grass field and a pathway to the gate. There is fence surrounding the palace and guards guarding the gate. There is no interaction involve in level 1. The main point is to explore the architecture of the building.

The data for 3D objects stored in VR environment were based on Ancient Malacca project in 2004. Ancient Malacca data was investigated on the details and its historical aspects by Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) and implemented by the Center of Virtual Reality in Cyberjaya, Malaysia.
