Team CyberX whilefalsebr8 in ‘Hack a Day’ Capture the Flag Competition!

On November 11th, 2024, our university’s cybersecurity team, whilefalsebr8, represented the CyberX club and the Faculty of Computing at UTM in the prestigious “Hack a Day” Capture the Flag (CTF) competition, organized by PwC in collaboration with Asian Pacific University (APU). Competing against 22 top-selected teams across Malaysia, whilefalsebr8 proudly achieved a 10th-place finish.


The competition presented rigorous challenges, requiring deep cybersecurity knowledge and skills, including insights into emerging fields such as AI Hacking, Threat Intelligence, and Incident Response. Our team pushed their limits, applying critical problem-solving skills and exploring innovative methods to solve complex tasks.


This intense experience went beyond just competition. Our team had the unique opportunity to meet some of the most talented cybersecurity minds, fostering connections with passionatepeers and industry experts from other universities. These interactions were not only inspiring but also strengthened our team’s network within the cybersecurity field.


Reflecting on the event, our team described Hack a Day as a challenging yet immensely rewarding journey. They valued both the technical knowledge gained and the camaraderie shared, making this a memorable experience that will fuel their future endeavors in cybersecurity. We are incredibly proud of the team whilefalsebr8 and look forward to their continued achievements!
