30 July, 2025 – UTM shines at International Connectivity Conference & Expo 2025 (ICCExpo 2025), which took place at Connexion CEC, Kuala Lumpur. The Faculty of Computing has showcased two groundbreaking inventions at the recent tech conference:
D.I.A.N.A is an interactive holographic avatar designed to revolutionize digital education. More than just a virtual figure, D.I.A.N.A received the Gold Award at NALI 2024, acts as an educator, advisor, ambassador, and companion, enhancing learning experiences and campus interaction. During the conference, delegates engaged with D.I.A.N.A through real-time speech-based communication—a truly immersive experience. Metaverse digital signage system that redefines how we interact with advertisements and digital content. Unlike traditional static signage, this system enables live interaction, real-time editing, and cloud-based customization, making it ideal for marketing, presentations, and user engagement. The Metaverse digital signage was first showcased at INATEX 2024, and our researchers are also exploring monetization opportunities and web compatibility to accelerate its growth.

Both inventions captured the attention of the Minister of Communications, YB Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, and became one of the crowd-pullers at the UTM exhibition centre. Visitors were drawn to the engaging and futuristic concepts on display. Congratulations to Dr. Fazliaty Edora Fadzli and Dr. Muhammad Anwar for their impactful live demonstrations that played a key role in this success, proudly showcasing our innovations to the public. Congratulations to UTM ViCubeLab for their dedication and relentless pursuit of innovation. This milestone not only demonstrates the strength of research and development within the Faculty of Computing, UTM, but also sets a high benchmark for future technological advancements.
