JOHOR BAHRU, 2 March 2026 – The Faculty of Computing, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), welcomed Professor Dr. Yang Yi from Zhejiang University, China, for an official academic visit and sharing session held at the Showcase Hub, Level 2, Block N28A.
The programme began with welcoming remarks by Professor Dr. Azlan Mohd Zain, Deputy Dean (Research, Innovation & Development), followed by a speech by Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Masitah Binti Ghazali, Deputy Dean (Academic & Student Affairs). Professor Dr. Yang Yi then delivered his address, setting the stage for academic discussions with faculty members.
A key highlight of the visit was the Sharing Session with a Prominent Researcher, during which Professor Dr. Yang Yi presented “AI in Education and Research.” He shared insights on recent advances in artificial intelligence applications within higher education and research ecosystems.
The programme also featured a dedicated Q&A session with postgraduate students, focusing on academic writing, research excellence, and publishing in high-impact journals, providing valuable guidance for emerging researchers.
Professor Dr. Yang Yi, representing Zhejiang University (QS World University Rankings: #49, and consistently ranked among the top 3–5 universities in China), holds an impressive H-index of 103 (Web of Science) and 107 (Scopus). His visit reflects the Faculty’s ongoing commitment to strengthening international academic collaboration and enhancing research visibility.
The session was attended by faculty members, academic staff, and postgraduate students, fostering meaningful engagement, insightful discussions, and productive knowledge exchange.
The visit marks another significant step in advancing global research networking and reinforcing UTM’s position in AI-driven education and high-impact research.
