Congratulations to the FC student team representing UTM for winning the Silver Award at SEA-CICSIC 2026 for their project, ElaeiSync.

SEA-CICSIC 2026 is a prestigious regional innovation competition that brings together talented teams from across Southeast Asia to present solutions addressing industrial, social, and sustainability challenges. The annual competition was held from 19 to 21 June 2026 at Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM).

ElaeiSync, which first received a Silver Award at DIGITEX 2026 on 15 June 2026, is an AI-powered oil palm harvesting innovation that combines IoT, machine vision, edge AI, and precision harvesting to detect Fresh Fruit Bunch (FFB) ripeness and support more accurate selective harvesting. The project aims to help smallholder farmers and the palm oil industry improve yield, increase Oil Extraction Rate (OER), and address labour challenges.

The team members are Qian Wen Jun, Wu Xin Kai, Welson Woong Lu Bin, Nurul Athirah Syafiqah Binti Mohd Razali, and Muhammad Amirun Irfan Bin Samsul Shah. The team is now preparing for the next stage of the competition, CICSIC 2026, which unites university and college students from around the world to engage in innovation and entrepreneurship.

Project supervisor Dr. Seah Choon Sen commended the team for developing a solution that addresses real agricultural needs through computing and innovation. This achievement reflects the teamโ€™s technical skills, teamwork, creativity, and commitment to developing technology with meaningful industry and social impact.

The Faculty of Computing proudly congratulates the team, supervisors, and all contributors on this outstanding achievement and wishes the team all the best for the next stage of the competition at CICSIC 2026.
